Jewelry boxes are a way to keep your jewelry neat and organized, but if the interior is unlined wood or metal, it may damage your jewelry. Jewelry may become scratched or pushed out of shape if it is left in boxes that are unlined. Lining a jewelry box is a straightforward task that allows you to keep your jewelry in good condition.

15-4

Measure the insides of the jewelry box, taking width and height measurements for all sides that you want lined.

Use the measurements to cut out rectangles of the same dimensions from the thin plastic baking sheet. You should have a plastic square for each side that you want lined. Use a craft knife or scissors that you do not mind blunting to make the cuts. If you do not have a plastic baking sheet, use plastic canvas, which you can find in craft stores.

Lay one rectangle on your felt and draw an outline that is about 陆 inch larger than the rectangle.

9-3

Cut out the rectangle of felt.

Snip off the corners of the felt rectangle, minimizing the amount of felt that has to be folded. Do not snip off too much, or the corner of the plastic will be exposed.

Center the plastic rectangle on top of the felt. For another bit of security, use a small piece of double-sided carpet tape to secure the plastic rectangle to the felt.

Fold each edge over on top of the plastic rectangle, gluing it down. To get a tidy edge, use only a small amount of glue and use a clean Popsicle stick to smooth the felt down.

13-3

Repeat steps 3 through 7 for each plastic rectangle.

Lay a strip of double-sided carpet tape along the back of each felt rectangle.

Insert the the felt rectangles into the box, covering up each side.

Press the felt rectangles to make sure that they adhere well to the side of the box. For the best results, push the rectangles flush against the sides of the box with a Popsicle stick or some other tool that will get into the corners. This ensures that the tape will stick evenly to the box.
